Authentic Native American Art
Navaho 1883

In 1883 a Navaho craftsman brought this image from the spirit world into this world. Mary Beth, "Woman Who Swims with Fire," has brought it into the 21st century. This floor cloth appears to reflect a parallel universe. The southeastern Indians interpret the red and white bands around the outer edges as the "war loving people", symbolized by red and the "peace loving people", symbolized by white, both embracing life. The interconnectedness of life appears to be reinforced as well as a recognition of diversity in that the women's dresses are all different.

A quilt clamp works beautifully to display this piece as a wallhanging either vertically or horizontally.
